01Our privacy-first approach
Because the Service is about peptides, the simple fact that you use it can reveal health-related interests. We therefore designed Subcutera around data minimization: we ask for only what a feature actually needs, we keep editorial content open or email-only, and we require an account (just an email) only for the community forum. We do not require your phone number or demographic details to read content.
02Information we collect
- Account information, if you create an account: your email address, a username, and a password (stored only in hashed form). A profile picture or display name is optional.
- Content you submit, forum posts, comments, votes, reports, and messages you choose to send us.
- Usage & device data, IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and similar log data, collected automatically to operate and secure the Service.
- Cookies & analytics, see Section 06.
We do not ask you to tell us what you take, your medical conditions, or other health details, and we ask that you not share such information about yourself or others in support requests.
03Sensitive personal information
Information that is tied to your interest in peptides may be considered "sensitive personal information" or "consumer health data" under laws such as the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) and Washington's My Health My Data Act. We limit our use of such information to what is necessary to provide the Service and the purposes you would reasonably expect, and we do not use it to infer characteristics about you for advertising. You may limit our use of sensitive information at any time.
04How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and secure the Service and your account;
- To run the community forum (display posts, reputation, and moderation);
- To respond to your requests and provide support;
- To send first-party email updates only if you have opted in (see below);
- To understand aggregate, privacy-protective usage trends so we can improve; and
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms.
05Email & text messages
Any marketing email we send is our own (first-party) and requires your explicit opt-in through an unchecked checkbox at sign-up, never pre-checked. In compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act, every marketing email identifies us, includes our physical mailing address, and offers a working one-click unsubscribe that we honor promptly. If we ever collect a phone number, we will obtain separate express written consent before sending any SMS, as required by the TCPA, and will honor opt-outs. We do not sell or share your email address or phone number with third parties for their own marketing.
06Cookies, analytics & advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure aggregate traffic, and support clearly labeled advertising. Some advertising or analytics partners may set their own cookies. Where the use of advertising cookies could be considered a "sale" or "sharing" (including cross-context behavioral advertising) under state law, you can opt out as described below.
We honor opt-out preference signals, including the Global Privacy Control (GPC), and we present a cookie/consent banner where required. You can also disable cookies in your browser, though some features may not work as well.
07How we share information
We share information only as follows:
- Service providers (e.g., hosting, email delivery, analytics) who process data on our behalf under contracts that restrict their use of it;
- Advertising/analytics partners, limited to what is described in Section 06 and subject to your opt-out;
- Legal & safety reasons, to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect rights and safety; and
- Business transfers, in connection with a merger or acquisition, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share consumer health data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
08Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information · Limit use of sensitive information
You have the right to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information and to limit our use of sensitive personal information. To exercise these rights, use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in our site footer, enable Global Privacy Control in your browser, or email us at [privacy@subcutera.com]. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.
09Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example, California, Washington, Virginia, Colorado, or the EU/UK), you may have the rights below. To make a request, email [privacy@subcutera.com]; we will verify and respond within the time required by law.
10Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law, and then delete or de-identify it. You can delete your account at any time, which removes or anonymizes your associated personal information except where we must retain it.
11Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and a breach-response process, and we require data-processing agreements with our vendors. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12Children & minors
The Service is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13External links
The Service links to third-party websites (such as suppliers, gear retailers, and source citations). We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; review their policies before sharing information with them.
14Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
